2nd Annual Business Protection Summit

Change is constant in the 21st century. Now, more than ever, businesses face an increasing array of complex disruptions. Events such as communication and technological breakdowns, natural disasters, security breeches, human resource changes, and changing policies and procedures can threaten the success of any organization. 

The 2nd Annual Business Protection Summit, hosted by the Colorado SBDC and Colorado Springs SBDC, will have four seminars throughout the day, a Community Development Block Grant Disaster Relief ("Recover Colorado") info center, one-on-one consulting, exhibitors and a happy hour networking event. The event will be emceed by Brian Bledsoe, Chief Meteorologist for KKTV.

This is the second year this event has been held. Last year's event focused on helping business owners recover from the recent natural disasters across southern Colorado. Click here to view last year's agenda and speakers.

Exhibitor Info: The cost to exhibit at this event is $100 and includes a table and registration for one. Interested organizations must first fill out this short application. You will be notified of your application's status within three business days. Accepted organizations will be notified via email and will be provided with instructions to register for the event.

Marketing and communication strategy is critical to your business when reacting to a disruption. This business seminar will provide you with information on how to utilize marketing tools, social media, and the local media to support your business and employees when they need it most.

10:15-11:30 am "Are You Ready? Assessing the Risk of Exposure, Vulnerabilities and Threats"
Technology is amazing and can assist us in order to be time-efficient and cost-efficient. In the wrong hands or wrong situation, technology can be detrimental to the business world. This expert panel will discuss topics such as cyber security, breeches, cloud storage and computing, among other technology risks, vulnerabilities and threats and how to combat them with your business preparedness.

12:45-2 pm "It's Game Time: Building the Best Offense and Defense for Your Business"
There’s a lot you need to know to be prepared for a disruption. At the SBDC we’ve worked with hundreds of businesses that have been affected by disruptions of all varieties. We know it’s best to build your offense BEFORE a disruption and have a good plan in place AFTER the disruption occurs. Attend this panel to learn about what to do to ensure incident readiness and incident management for your business. Hear from a panel that will present best practices and processes to help you.

2:30-3:45 pm "Attitude for Continuity: In Case of Emergency, Break Glass!"
Hear from our keynote of the day, Dr. Mary Kelly, who will talk about the “why” in business preparedness, the importance of it and the advantages that come with being ready for any disruption.
