LEADING EDGE Scholarship Opportunities

In addition to the four scholarship opportunities outlined below, SBDC centers may offer additional scholarships or tuition reimbursements. Check with your local center to find out more.

Colorado Lending Source Scholarship

Colorado Lending Source is offering scholarships to LEADING EDGE™ participants who also enroll in their Ice House Entrepreneurship Program, a 10-week course designed to help you:

  • Develop and implement an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Develop critical thinking skills to help you identify and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities and risks
  • Understand processes to transform ideas into success
  • Establish goals, identify resources and determine steps required
Eligibility Requirements:
Opportunity is open to all entrepreneurs in Colorado; however, the class is only offered in Denver and Colorado Springs at this time.

Enroll in the Ice House program before LEADING EDGE and Colorado Lending Source will refund you $75 towards your LEADING EDGE tuition fees upon graduating, OR, enroll in the Ice House program after LEADING EDGE and Colorado Lending Source will discount your Ice House program tuition by $75.

How to Apply:
Register for LEADING EDGE and let the SBDC center know you are an Ice House graduate to receive the scholarship, OR, enroll in the Ice House program and let Colorado Lending Source know you are a LEADING EDGE graduate in order to get the discount - it's that easy!

Colorado Creative Industries Scholarship Opportunity for Creative Businesses

Thanks to a partnership between the Colorado SBDC and Colorado Creative Industries (CCI), creative businesses can apply for a scholarship to attend a LEADING EDGE training course. The goal of this partnership is to reach small to medium Colorado for-profit and commercial entrepreneurs and businesses that are active SBDC clients to provide targeted business training, resources and funding to Colorado creative businesses. Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed for 100% of their LEADING EDGE tuition fee.

CCI is Colorado’s state arts agency and is a division of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Established to capitalize on the immense potential for our creative sector to enhance economic growth in Colorado, the mission of CCI is to promote, support and expand the creative industries to drive the state’s economy, grow jobs and enhance our quality of life. Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be a start-up entrepreneur or current business owner working within the creative industries in Colorado. Please call CCI staff at 303-892-3840 with questions regarding your creative occupation eligibility.

All scholarships have been awarded until July 1, 2019. No applications are being accepted at this time.

Colorado Tourism Office Leading Edge Scholarship Opportunity for Tourism Businesses

Collaboration between the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) and the Colorado SBDC allow tourism businesses to apply for a scholarship to attend a LEADING EDGE training course. The goal of this collaboration is to reach small to medium Colorado for-profit and commercial entrepreneurs and businesses in rural areas that are active SBDC clients to provide targeted business training, resources, and funding to Colorado tourism businesses. Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed for 100% of their LEADING EDGE tuition fee.

CTO is Colorado's state tourism agency and is a division of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade. The mission of the CTO is to drive traveler spending through promotion and development of compelling, sustainable travel experiences throughout our four-corner state. Applicants must be a start-up entrepreneur or current business owner working within the tourism industry in Colorado. Call CTO staff at 303-892-3840 with questions regarding your tourism occupation eligibility.

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority Scholarship Application

Collaboration between the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) and the Colorado SBDC allows businesses to apply for a scholarship to attend a LEADING EDGE training course. The goal of this collaboration is to reach small to medium Colorado for-profit and commercial entrepreneurs and businesses in rural areas that are active SBDC clients to provide targeted business training, resources, and funding to Colorado tourism businesses. Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed for 100% of their LEADING EDGE tuition fee.

The CHFA team works together throughout Colorado to increase the availability of affordable, decent, and accessible housing for lower income Coloradans; and strengthen the state’s economy by providing financial assistance to businesses. For more info on CHFA, visit www.chfainfo.com.
